Carniolan Queens
At Blackwater Bee Ranch, our vision is to offer quality queens and give our customers a choice. These are what some call the government Carniolan as they were issued in the fifties and sixties and beekeepers had to pay royalties on them. They are mostly gentle, they groom themselves well for mites and they hardy better in winter. These are the best all around bee we sell.
Russian Hybrid Queens
The Russian Bee is the BEST at honey production, being hardy in winter and grooming themselves for mites. Russians ARE a little more aggressive, but our hybrids are not really "spicey" . They are however HARD-working guys that will feel your frames FAST!
Italian Quuens
Our Italians are good honey producers and are known for filling out supers fast. They are a very gentle bee and are easy to work with. (Great for beginners. Italians DO struggle somewhat with mite infestations so be sure to have a treatment plan in mind.
